A recently, retired CPA client approached Insight with a problem. She wanted to purchase a new PC and move 7 years of client records to the new machine along with all of the software and systems that were on the machine. The problem – the client no longer had the software CD’s that needed to be loaded on the new machine before moving over the data.

Insight’s solution saved the client from having to go back and attempt to purchase old software and configure it on the new machine.  Many of Insight’s clients take advantage of a Back-up solution that not only copies data and key files but makes a complete system image.  Should a client have any sort of major catastrophe such as a fire or earthquake, the system can be replicated quickly on new equipment using the most current back-up image.

Insight used this product to make an exact image of the client’s computing environment as it existed on the old PC.  Insight then built a new PC with no operating system or software. The image of the old PC was loaded onto the new Insight built P.C.  With some minor accommodations made by Insight’s tech, the old system was replicated and the client will enjoy 3-4 more years with the system on a new computer.

Insight’s Image Backup solution saved the client from repurchasing and loading the software and then transferring and configuring the data to the new system. This approach reduced the technician’s time from an estimated 15 hours to 5 hours.

An Image Backup solution should be considered as key element in a firm’s emergency preparedness program.
