24/7 Emergency Response to Replace Mission Critical Server at local HQ for a national Mutual Fund Company.

This Mutual Funds firm has a main office in the North Bay and a satellite office on the East Coast. The firm’s mission critical jobs were running on a single server that was rapidly approaching the end of its life. Replacement had been delayed as a result of economic considerations. On a Thursday, Insight’s analysis indicated that the server had reached a critical point and that replacement was required immediately.

A replacement server ordered through Dell would have taken at least two weeks to be delivered. Insight’s System Engineer felt with absolute certainty that the server would not survive for two weeks. It was determined that a custom-built server would be required. The server was designed and the parts ordered on Thursday. Parts arrived on Friday but it was determined that some components were on back order. A redesign was done utilizing available parts. Insight picked up the remaining parts on Friday night and completed building the server on Saturday. Data and functionality began being moved Saturday night and all transfers were completed by Sunday night. Insight technicians were on-sight Monday morning ensuring that the client had the functionality required to run the business.

While Insight prefers to focus on emergency prevention, there are occasions when the 24/7 emergency service offered by Insight is required to keep clients working.
